To receive a $50 discount, participate in our TIGERS Preservation Station Encounter (located inside of Barefoot Landing) prior to making your Myrtle Beach Wild Encounters tour reservation. (Note: To receive the discount, you must participate in the TIGERS Preservation Station Encounter and the Myrtle Beach Wild Encounters tour during the same operating season.)
The TIGERS Wild Encounters Tours begin at $299 per person, depending on availability and the season. We recommend making your reservation at least two weeks in advance. Groups of 10 or more will receive a discount for online bookings. If the tour cost is beyond your budget, we offer an Essay Contest option, with complete details on our website.

Where is the Myrtle Beach Safari tour located?

The TIGERS Myrtle Beach Safari tour is located on our 50-acre preserve in Myrtle Beach, S.C. It is about 15 miles south of the TIGERS Preservation Station in Barefoot Landing, North Myrtle Beach. Exact directions are given out only to those who have tour reservations. For the privacy and safety of our animals, our tour address is not published and will not be given out.

How old do you have to be to participate in the Myrtle Beach Safari tour?

The minimum age for the Wild Encounters tour is 6 years old. This is due to the amount of time and attention needed to really enjoy the experience. The tour tends to be too long and contain too many necessary instructions for younger children. Children of any age, however, can visit our TIGERS Preservation Station in Barefoot Landing, where they will also have the opportunity to interact with animals.

Is the Myrtle Beach Safari tour handicapped accessible?

Unfortunately, the Myrtle Beach Wild Encounters tour is not handicap-accessible; we do not have the capacity to accommodate wheelchairs or walkers. The preserve is subject to the forces of nature and has uneven ground, logs, sand and uphill terrain. You must be able to walk/stand for 20 minutes and make your way up a flight of approximately 20 steps. (Needing assistance of a cane and/or family member is fine.)

Can expectant mothers take the tour?

Expecting mothers are permitted to take the tour. This is an outside tour, so moms-to-be should keep in mind high temperatures during the summer months. Also keep in mind that you will be expected to sit on the ground for animal interactions, walk up and down a flight of 20 steps, and be able to stand/walk for 15-20 minutes at a time. You will be perfectly fine on our tour.

What if we want to have more interaction with a particular animal, or an animal that wasn't on the tour?

The TIGERS Myrtle Beach Safari is home to more than 130 wild animals, including 60 big cats. The animals here are center stage in this fully interactive, hands-on experience, where you can cuddle up to tiger cubs, join the wolf pack, share a laugh with our apes, witness adult tigers running at full speed, and feed Bubbles, our African elephant. Plus, this is the only place in the world where you can meet the liger, the world’s largest big cat weighing in at more than 900 pounds. While we cannot guarantee that you will see a particular animal up close and personal, you will have the opportunity a variety of endangered animals in a fully interactive, hands-on tour experience. How many days in advance do I need to make a reservation for the Myrtle Beach Safari tour?

Our Wild Encounters Tour runs three to five days a week from March 4 through October 9, 2017. On the day of your tour, you’ll need to be at the preserve for the tour no later than 9 a.m. The tour will begin at 10 a.m. and will last approximately three hours. Exact departure time varies, as you will have the opportunity to look through all of the photos taken of your family/group and choose those you’d like to have printed.

Tours are generally more popular during the summer months and holidays, and summer and holiday dates will sell several weeks to months in advance. The off-season (spring and fall) are great times to visit, too. But, no matter the time of the year or the size of the tour, it is an intimate experience. We adjust the time you spend with the animals accordingly so every tour gets the same experience. The tour will operate rain or shine. A large majority of the tour is covered and we have the capacity to move portions of it inside if needed. If it’s raining, we recommend that you bring your own rain jacket/poncho and wear clothing you do not mind getting a little damp in.

How should we dress for the Wild Encounters Tour?

Wardrobe requirements and restrictions: no bracelets, chains, straps, long necklaces (nothing that dangles), no white clothes on the tour, no skirts or dresses on the tour (shorts are OK), no sandals or flip-flops (closed-toe shoes are required). Phones, iPads, and cameras are not permitted.

Will someone be available to take our photo during the Wild Encounters Tour?

Your Wild Encounters tour will be documented by our professional photographers and videographer. The Photo CD/DVD combo of your tour will be available for purchase at the time of your reservation or at the end of your tour (it’s $25 more if purchased at the end of your tour). The cost is based on the number of people in your photo group, with the base price at $150 for the first person and $25 for each additional person in your photo group. You will get one complimentary 8X10 photo of your choice per photo group. Cell phones and cameras aren’t allowed during the Wild Encounters tour and must be left in your vehicle. The photo CD will be a digital photo album of you and the animals you interact with on the tour. Each guest will get a minimum of 25-50 digital photographs, which includes photos of your group with the animals, individual portraits and candid shots of your day and photos of the animals themselves. The DVD will feature live footage of your day at the tour, behind-the-scenes footage of our conservation projects and stories about many of our animals.

Are there any tour options for personal and private encounters with the animals?

Not only is our TIGERS Wild Encounters Tour once-in-a-lifetime, but we also offer some amazing personal/private encounters. One of our guests’ long-standing favorites is to swim with Bubbles the Elephant in the Intracoastal Waterway on the edge of the preserve. Or, you may want to spend more one-on-one time with the cubs, have an adventure through the forest or paint with our great apes. Private encounters start at $5,000. How do I find out whether a particular day is available for the Myrtle Beach Safari tour?

Myrtle Beach Safari tours generally operate 4 days a week from mid-March thru mid-October. You can also visit our front desk at T.I.G.E.R.S. Preservation Station to speak with a tour coordinator and make a reservation in person.

Can I swim with the tigers?

During the Myrtle Beach Safari tour guests will have the opportunity to watch the trainers swim with the tigers. This is not something that we can allow the public to do. Bathing suits are NOT required on the tour.

If you have somewhere that you need to be after the tour and need to leave by a certain time please let our staff know and we will do our best to accommodate you.

What discounts do you offer? (Group, Local, Military etc.?)

We offer a $ discount to each guest that has participated in our T.I.G.E.R.S. Preservation Station Encounter with the purchase of their photo upload. (please refer to question #2). Sunny Day also offers a $ off coupon for our Myrtle Beach Safari tour. Unfortunately we are unable to offer any deeper discounts than the ones that we already offer.

Will there be restrooms at the Myrtle Beach Safari?

Yes there are restrooms available on the property.

Will there be hands on animal interaction on the tour? What animals will I get to touch?

Our Myrtle Beach Safari is fully interactive. You will get to meet, pet, and hold a large variety of our animal ambassadors. The animals on your tour will vary depending upon the day and the time of year but you will always get to spend time with our tiger babies, hang out with our monkeys or apes and meet exotic animals you've probably never even heard of before.

What if we want to have more interaction with a particular animal, or an animal that wasn't on the tour?

You end up with over one hundred photos that you have the right to reproduce as long as it is not for commercial purposes like ads, billboards, movie or television.
DVD info:
The professional Video DVD will have live footage of your day at the Myrtle Beach Safari. This will have everyone from the tour that day in it, not just your photo group. It is a great way to show friends and family the fun activities you experienced at the Myrtle Beach Safari. It also features behind the scenes footage of our conservation projects through The Rare Species Fund. DVD will also include endearing stories about many of our animal ambassadors, and the incredible relationships and bonds they have formed with each other, their human companions, and trainers. These stories include the unlikely friendship of: Suryia the Orangutan and Roscoe the hound dog, Bubbles the African Elephant and her beloved friend Bella the black lab, Anjana the Chimp and two white tiger cubs she raised, as well as the tale of our amazing Ligers in a short documentary about their lives.
