Ahren the African Fish Eagle
Once suffering from dehydration and scheduled to be euthanized, this glorious bird was rescued by our team from Tanzania, followed by several months of medical quarantine. Now Ahren lives a beautiful life on our preserve. African fish eagles are one of the most familiar birds of prey on their native continent; in fact, it is the national bird for Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Sudan. A few identifiers are: its distinctive plumage, its barbed feet to hold onto slippery fish (its main meal) and its loud, iconic cry.
