The Gibbons
A Gibbon, or lesser ape, is another endangered species finding sanctuary here at TIGERS preserve. Don’t take their medium statues for granted, they’re built to travel through the rainforest trees of southeast Asia, with long arms and wide shoulders to make them the fastest of all mammals that live in the trees – some gibbons move as fast as 35 miles an hour, swinging from limb to limbs that are up to 50 feet away! Interestingly, female gibbons take the lead as the dominant member of the primate couple, followed by their offspring and, finally, the male.
